A super spoilery thought AND VIDEO CLIP from the new Doctor Who series permiere, "The Eleventh Hour". Click at your own peril.
A more coherent and comprehensive review is percolating right now but I just had to get this particular thing out of my head before it ate up all my other thinky thoughts. And yes,
runefrancisco and
peripathetictoo, lots of Amy Pond thoughts for you. Anyway.
I'd already mentioned before that Eleven had me at "I'm a girl?!", and I thoroughly enjoyed "The Eleventh Hour" the five or six times I'd watched it, seeing young Mr Smith get hold of the character at the same time the Doctor's trying to figure out for himself what he's about. For me, this is the exact point that Matt Smith OWNED the Doctor:
Specifically, this: "Okay. Now I've done it." So quiet and non-shouty.
The previous Doctor montage at the end simply solidified it.
For once, not being annoyed and/or enraged at Time Lord Lonely God Emo is such a wonderful feeling. I think I'm going to enjoy Doctor Who again.
